Overview
The tripeptide GHK was identified in human plasma albumin by Loren Pickart in 1973. It binds copper(II) with high affinity, forming the GHK-Cu complex. GHK-Cu is one of the most widely studied copper peptides, with a large body of in vitro research on cell culture, extracellular matrix and gene-expression models, and it is also used as a cosmetic ingredient under the name copper tripeptide-1.
